  • Where can I rent a motor?
There is a marina on Highway 70 between the cabins and Eagle River. It’s not always necessary, but we suggest you call to reserve one. Boat S’port 715-479- 8000
  • If I bring my own boat where can I dock it and park my trailer?
There is a public boat landing just minutes down the road. Each cabin can dock 1 boat at the pier designated for your cabin. Please do not dock your boat at the end of the piers. Pontoons must be moored or beached. No pontoons docked at the pier. Park your trailer on our property just to the right of our drive as you pull in, marked "Trailer Parking".
  • Are the grills charcoal or propane?
Each cabin has its own charcoal Weber grill and grill utensils. You will need to bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid. We also have a “Take Some, Leave Some” policy. That is, renters often leave behind their leftover charcoal or lighter fluid for the next renter. You are welcome to use anything left behind.
  • What about firewood for the campfire pits?
When we lose a tree there are piles of logs at the south end of the property ready for the fire pit or ready to be split. (There is an ax and log splitting wedge in the shed.) Campfire firewood is there for the gathering in the woods. You can also buy $5.00 bundles of firewood just down the road at roadside stands and at the dump (the Firehouse on Babcock Rd).
  • Do you accept credit cards or how do payments have to be made?
We are currently accepting Venmo payments or personal checks. Venmo: - Download the Venmo App - Search for @Elise-Riepenhoff - Insert your name, cabin name, and dates of rental in the "memo" line. Mail Your Checks to: Riepenhoff Rentals LLC 6542 Washington Circle Wauwatosa, WI 53213
  • Does each cabin come with a TV for DVD’s?
Yes each cabin has a TV and DVD player. The Walleye has very limited TV reception (NBC) and the Smallmouth, Bluegill and Perch have no TV reception. The TV simply functions as a DVD screen.
  • Do you have internet access? Can I use my cell phone?
Your time at Butternut is a true up North experience. Although there are many places in town with Wi-Fi and high speed Internet access (the public library, cafes, coffee shops, laundromat), you will find that your cell phone will get sporadic reception from the highway to the cabins and around our cabin property. The local grocery store Trigg's located in Eagle River has a cafe with internet access.
